Worked on stuffing 5 pounds of crap in a 2 pound bag

Working on finding the final placement of the lower radiator hose/pipe and the E fan so I can start routing the hydraulic hoses for the steering. Oh yeah welded a bracket in yesterday for the orbital so that has a home also.

After a trip to Los Angeles to pickup a big screen TV for a friend from work I wandered by accident in the garage and saw this rust bucket that wanted some attention, so what the heck, plugged in the welder and did a lil bit of work

Steering arms need to grow a bit from version one. If you ever setup a full hydro ram make sure the link between the ram and the steering arm is straight at full turn

Not so

But so

Oh well live and learn

Some more work on this today, I like how this came out

Start another project, Tinkertoy #1 is aching for another 4 cylinders.

That ought to keep me occupied for some time to come after this one is finished to my liking.

Also have to spend some serious time to tame the jungle in my backyard garden, that has gotten out of hand in the last few years. Never a boring moment yeah buddy

Who ever claimed that full hydro steering is as easy as pie is full of crap :P

Anyway got the steering arm business on one side resolved. tierod doesn't bind, tierod is straight at full turn.
Had to machine a few new spacers and what not. With some luck on to the other side tomorrow.
Then see if I can make a reservoir out of a chunk of old driveshaft, is a nice big thin wall tube. cap both ends weld in some fittings and tubes and maybe even snag a powersteering filter from work and it will be all spiffy, damned thing will hold a couple of quarts of fluid if I can help it. Just not impressed with the PSC reservoirs

Fabrimacted me a Y pipe, lil fuggly, but it will do the trick. Time for lunch and then of to the store to round up some brake hose and a ton of brake line fittings.

Curious about several things, want to see how the air shocks behave, how it craws with the 4.56 gears, how well the stock powersteering pump works and if the darn thing shifts with the manual contraption. The anticipation is just about killing me

After getting my truck smogged today, I found some time to tinker

First wired two 70 amp relays, for the low and high speeds of the cooling fan.

Anyway ran it through a Maxi fuse holder, powers both relays.

Made a switch panel and secured it.

Also build a floor for the driverside.

Steering pump swapped to a Jeep TJ pump with a minor modification for more volume, steering works good now, swapped a 4" pulley on the pump and made some bracketry for it.

Other than having to source 4 different 10 mm bolts my drivshaft yoke project is concluded. Made the adapter on my old lathe using a 4 jaw independent chuck that's probably close to 50 years old, had to flip the big chunk to machine the other side and it still has only 0.005" run out now that it's installed, pretty pleased with that. Front driveshaft should clear the frame and lower control arm now at full droop

Steering on Tinkertoy was a wash, but playing with scrappy was fun.

Welded a few thing in the heat put some oil in the front diff. Tightened and added jam nuts to the control arms and then it was flexy time.
Also figured out that the TCC works in all gears, couldn't figure out for a bit why the darn thing kept stalling, guess a idiot light would be a good addition.
Anyway on to the good stuff at 4 feet of flex front and rear things are stable and it's easy to get there. I bet I am gonna love auto wheeling.
