Just friends, the moral of the story is that drop pitman arms can and will break. Yesterday 2 of them in less than a quarter mile

Drop pitman arms just aren't all that, to much torque and twist on them under hard use.

Easiest way around it is to add hydro assist takes a lot of strain off the pitman arm

Yup drop pitman arm down for the count again and again. They just don't hold up to continued abuse

Today I met up with some friends to do a bit of wheeling, one of my buddies had found this little side trail that looked interesting. He called his trail run on the edge, turned out that break a Jeep day would have fitted the bill much better. 2 broken pitman arms and 2 hear flops and we had not even gotten to the good part. After that was under control and both Jeeps were rolling again, we got to the good part.

My bud took a go at it and either broke an axleshaft or grenaded his Detroit locker. Then tried to bump the first ledge and got really really close to tea ketteling it. So after winching him out of the way I putted through it, was a fun little side spur. After that excitement we decided to go do an easy trail with the rest of the Jeeps that were still in one piece. Well that resulted in getting snowed on, freezing our @sses off and a bend tierod that needed a whole lot of help, poor CJ had a bad case of knock knees. After that was resolved we decided that it was a really good idea to call it a day and start a nice warm campfire and drink some hot cider and rehash the fun day. Will add some pics when I find some. This is what I am talking about as far as popping out of gear seems to be a very common problem, if somebody spend time and money to built a fix

Olielekkage op de seals van de uitgaande assen is een ding wat niets met het "flippen"te maken heeft.

Weet ik, maar verschillende 4 wheelers hebben problemen gehad met de 3 speed stack case en lekkende rear seals en hadden erg veel problemen om dat te verhelpen.

No worries if not tomorrow then next Sunday it's wheelin time, but you are right it has been to long.

wat bedoel je met olielekkage? en waar dan presies? deze bak spingt niet uit versnelling onder geen enkele omstandigheid. en lekt ook niet.

zou een mooie oplossing zijn die 3-speed.

Search on Pirate 4x4. Rear seal leakage. Also the shift rails being on the bottom could be a point of leaks.

Other t6han the shift rails and the speedo sensor hole being on the bottom, I see no real reason for it to not work

De uitdaging zal net als een geflipte D300, de olie lekage zijn en de shift rails aan de onderkant is ook niet de allerbeste oplossing. Buiten dat zie ik geen reden waarom het niet zou kunnen. Stak cases aren't the best in the west though. Er schijnen nogal wat klachten over olie lekage en uit gear springen te zijn. De 3 speeds are the bomb though.

Good thing I listened to my technical advisers, damned dogs are a lot smarter than they look. As it stands I got the rough idea worked out on how to bolt the silver bullet under my buggy. Tube 1.75" x 0.25" tube is going to be welded to the axle housing (has enough clearance to remove the carrier easily). Then a plate is going to be welded to the diff cover and bolted to the tube and the axle tube. The steering ram mounts will be welded to this plate and that will conclude that dilemma.

but after a long conversation with those two, I formulated a plan to mount the steering ram. The big hurdle is to make the whole shebang or part there of removable to get access to the diffcover

Gonna have some fun the next couple of days, figuring out a way to tie this thing to the front axle

After some goofing around today, I went to the steel yard and bought some material to start building a fuel cell mount.

Made pretty good progress on it

Ik heb ineens problemen met schakelen. De symptomen:

1 - Met de motor uit en koppelingspedaal in kan ik de pook zonder problemen door de versnellingen bewegen

2 - Als ik de motor start met de versnelling in vrij en vanuit vrij wil gaan schakelen, dan krijg ik de pook niet in beweging / krijg hem niet in versnelling.

3 - Als ik de Jeep met motor uit in versnelling zet en dan start, dan begint de Jeep al direct te rollen als ik de rem los laat (met koppelingspedaal nog naar beneden dus). Met rem erop blijft motor overigens wel gewoon lopen / slaat niet af.

4 - Als ik de motor start met versnelling in 1 dan start hij ook ietwat moeizaam

Olie van de versnellingsbak is recent nog vervangen/gevuld en ik heb geen lekkage gehad. Voor goede orde - heb nu niet al nogmaals gecontroleerd maar verwacht er ook geen probleem. Wel alvast het hieronder gemarkeerde reservoir/vulpunt bekeken wat naar mijn weten olie voor de koppeling is? In mijn herinnering hoort hier gewoon olie tot bijna aan het randje te staan, maar voor zover je erin kan kijken is het leeg/droog. Ik weet alleen niet zeker tot hoe ver dit vol moet / service manual helpt me hier niet echt verder. Gewoon (DOT 3) tot het randje? Zou dat het hele probleem kunnen oplossen of denken jullie bij bovenstaande al aan een andere oorzaak?

Je moet dat rubber dopje er uit halen de rem vloeistof zit daar onder. Hoe voelt het koppelings pedaal?

Valt direct naar de vloer? of heeft meer speling dan voor dat dit probleem begon?

Je rem en koppelings reservoir in de regen open maken is ook een niet zo erg goed idee

Should be more then strong enough to keep the rear suspension in place regardless of how carried away I get
