    Run To The Border

A friend of mine(Dirt) from Inland Jeep Freeks hooked me up yesterday. He got me hooked up for a run on Devils canyon. This is a really fun challenging trail that was previously closed byt the BLM, but now can be run by permit as an event. The Sandiego four wheel club made this happen, thanks for your efforts guys. Anyway After getting up at 3 AM, I hit the road at 4 AM drove close to 200 miles to get to the trail head. We met up with the gang, got all the disclaimers signed and turned in, waited for a straggler and then got going. Right after the start is as really nice rock section going downhill, you hit it wrong you are either stuck or you flop if you get silly. Looked like fun to climb back up it which we did at the end of the day. Climbing it on 35's would take some serious skill and a prayer. All in all we had an eclectic group with some very well equipped krawlers. After everybody got through the first section it was relatively smooth sailing till the end/ turn around point. There a few played on a bonus section that was edging into buggy territory. After lunch a few Jeeps and a Toyota buggy with 4 wheel drive problems broke of and headed to the exit and home. Return trip was definitely a bit more challenging, The pretty Orange Jeep broke the upper trilink frame of the mount after that was welded back on he headed for the exit also with another Jeep to make sure he made it. From there we headed to another bonus section where we enjoyed a nice spectacle, watching people abuse their junk is always fun to watch. Eventually we ended back at the start, climb out was fun a good line and you climb right out over the big pile of rock, bad line you are so screwed . Then we got help up for a bit by a flat tire, once that was handled on to the trailer and home. got home at about 8.30 PM, long fun filled day, would do it again in a heart beat, had a blast.
